Meyung is an Asian American theater artist who grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. A Product of an opera singer and classical pianist mother from Indiana and physicist astronomer father from Korea, her primary interest is in creating compelling visionary musical theater. She has created original experimental works with theater artists and companies in New York City, performing at The Culture Project, La Mama, The Vineyard Theater, Here, Dance Theater Workshop, and The New York Theater Workshop. She has collaborated and worked with Richard Calibans’ Cucuracha Theater, Synaesthetic Theater, David Lindsay-Abaire, and Stephen Koplowitz and Company. Her original work has been featured in Here's American Living Room Festival and The New York International Fringe Festival. She has studied extensively with the Roy Hart Theater, and Jonathan Hart-Makwaia using the 8-octave voice to create and perform innovative music in New York City, The Netherlands, and France. She has performed in a new piece created by SITI Company’s Leon Ingulsrud and Barney O’Hanlon titled 23 Seconds about John Cage and a musical version of Trojan Women, with original music by Cynthia Rowley. Her most recent endeavors include Burnt Toast, a monthly performance salon, and WTF Pandemic! an original collaborative online series featuring film, music, and writing around pandemic experiences. She earned her MFA from Naropa University’s Contemporary Performance Program and has a BFA from New York University’s Experimental Theater Wing.
